Washing Minnows

Today marked the opening day of trout season and so I awoke early to begin my quest to finally catch my elusive first trout. Armed with salted minnows, a bait needle, and an ingenious fishing rig learned from a family of seasoned local anglers, I set out in my new hip waders and fishing vest for a day walking the streams. My partner and guide on this quest, famous O-Town local, Jesse Phillips, picked me up just after dawn and together we braved the icy Catskill streams.

Alas, the wiley fish evaded my hook once again, though Jesse got his hooks into a 15" brown trout early that afternoon. Despite remaining on the schnide, it was an awesome day spent hiking some beautiful upstate waterways.
