Brumfis Pickup

I went out to New Brunswick to play pick-up for the first time this year on the frozen ground of Buccleuch Park.  Walt and I ran a half lap of the park, during which I did a quick 5 x muscle-ups, before taking the field to get some throwing in.  After that, we were able to get a good 1.5 hours of 6 v 6 and, if memory serves, a little 7 v 7 as well.

Squat Hell (... and some pull-ups and pushups)

Warm-up:
6:00 Jumping Rope
Active Stretching

CFWoD for 1/16/10:
"With a continuously running clock, squat for 60 seconds. Subtract the number of squats completed from 60, and do that many pull-ups in minute two. In minute three, squat again, subtracting the number completed from 60. Do that number of push-ups in minute four. Minute five is squatting again, and minute six pull-ups.
The pattern is squats, pull-ups, squats, push-ups, squats, pull-ups, etc. The goal is to stay within the workout's formula for as long as possible.  Don't do more than 60 squats in any round.  In any case, stay moving for at least 12 minutes."

Baby Joggin' and Trails

Jamie and I went exploring today.  After running on the streets for a bit, we came upon a trail and decided to go off-roading.  Unfortunately, it was a bit short lived as the first train led to a swamp and the second trail quickly got too narrow for the stroller.  Afterward, we ran into Josh and went for a stroll around the neighborhood.

Bench Press & Pull-ups

Warm-up:
8:00 Elliptical Machine
Active Stretching

CFWoD for 1/13/10:
"Lynne"
5 Rounds for max reps of:
Bench Press:
  1. 25 x 105lbs
  2. 12 x 125lbs
  3. 9 x 125lbs

 Pull-ups:
  1. 17
  2. 15
  3. 15
  4. 15
  5. 13
NB - We don't have a bench with a rack in our gym, so each round of bench presses involved a deadlift, positioning yourself over the bench, a clean, then sitting down and lying back into bench press position.  Anyway, that,  plus the fact that I haven't truly benched anything since the 90s, is my excuse for the non-body-weight bench presses.

Bouldering

Mary Ellen and I drove down to Hamilton, NJ to try our hands at some indoor rock-climbing.  Not having taken any ropes classes, we stuck with the bouldering wall and traverse course.  While it was definitely fun, our experience was greatly limited by our hand strength or lack-there-of.

Mercer Midnight Madness

Not sure what the hell I was thinking, but I headed down to I195 for some indoor ultimate at 12 AM.  5 games later, the sun was almost up and we all were exhausted. I was a lot of fun, but I'm not sure I'd do it again.  And I'd write more, but I'm too damn tired.

Baby Joggin'

It didn't take me long to realize not wearing gloves today was a huge mistake.  Based on that tactical error, we didn't spend too long in the great outdoors.  I opted to run as fast as I could on a zig-zagging path through the neighborhood until I reached the end, and then run straight back, with a brief stop at the playground to get in 10 muscle-ups (surprisingly difficult when your fingers are numb).

10:00 run
10 x muscle-ups
